Family Life

I have been trying very hard to budget.. Yes that bad bad word.. I am not doing well so I have decided to budget with 1 thing at a time.. First stop is food... Yes that must have can't enough of item food..
Plan
  1. Once a month cooking meals
  2. Use all the items in pantry before buying more
  3. Only shop weekly for milk, bread , small things
  4. Create Menu's that doesn't work for me or my family so I have been making freezer meals and daily decide what we will eat and that is working well. Been doing this for over a week :)
  5. Locating more uses for rice so I can create more side dishes that are cheap
I am sure there is more I wish to add but I can't think right now :)

Kitchen Plan

Well Time to organizing the freezer and pantry. I have alot of SH**.. Need to get a plan.. I have alot of this and that.. You see my fiance and daughter prefer the same meals over and over. But I don't I prefer to try new things. So I purchase the "Mystery Ingredient" and then I forget:) hide things lol.. so I guess it's time to locate items/organize them. Then type a recipe search to use up those items..

I hear also my mother is purchasing my stove this weekend. So I need to get organized since next weekend they will be tearing out my kitchen stove top removing my wall unit and guess what just for funtearing out the cabinet under the stove top to put the NEW stove in it's place.. Dang.. What a mess.. Then we must place shelves in the area where the old wall oven was with a door on it later ( Fun plan huh) Wish me lots of luck..

Family Life

This weekend I went to the libary to hit up them for some more recipe books..
I also spent the weekend with my daughter at Grandparents house. As most people know she had surgery back in Jan for a foot condition and has to stay at grandparents house due to a wheel chair and lack of space where we live...So I am also planning up coming meals for when she comes home she has already requested Taco Salad and Lasagna..For a kid who is picky now she is getting to understand trying new foods she had eaten since staying at grandma's house Roast w/ cranberry sauce and Roast with grape jelly yes my kid..

Jayashiangel Recipe

This recipe is from my childhood food memories :) this my mother use to make ..

It normally calls to be made in a 9 X 13 pan but due to currently not having a full size oven I have placed the recipes with 8 x 8 in square pan instructions with ( 9 X13 ) in ( ) to assist you:) enjoy..

Applesauce Bread Pudding

2 1/2 cups Bread Crumbs (5 cup)

1 1/2 cups scaled milk (3 cup)

1/2 cup applesauce (1 cup)

1/2 cup sugar (1 cup)

eggs (3 )

1/4 cup butter (1/2 cup)

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (1 tsp)

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (1/2 tsp)

1/4 teaspoon vanilla (1/2 tsp)

Preheat oven to 350*F. Grease 8 X 8 (9 X 13 pan). In a pot heat milk and butter until warm but not boiling. In large bowl tear apart bread into bite size pieces to create breadcrumbs. Then in another bowl mix the rest of the ingredients together well. When milk is ready pour over breadcrumbs then allow to soak for 10 mins. Then combine then wet ingredients with the bread mixture. Then place into greased pan. Bake for 1 hour or until knife comes out clean then allow to cool to room temp. Then place in refrigerator. Cut into squares to serve.

AR Recipe from Traci B's Kitchen

I've been making my own spanish rice for years like this...

Brown 2 cups of rice in about 2 T oil
Add 1/2 small can of tomato sauce
1 bouillon cube
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. salt
4 cups of water

Let simmer uncovered on a low simmer for 20 minutes and then cover for last 10.
Fluff gently when done.
This can be modified to your taste!.. :)
